Appearance: A thick oily midnight black with a roasted brown one and a half finger head.

Smell: Rich coffee beans with a bourbon and maple syrup undertone.  Dark chocolate and a light smokiness can also be detected.

Taste: A deep bourbon taste with sweet dark chocolate.  Alcohol comes out in the aftertaste, but only enhances the strong initial flavors.  Very slight roasted nuttiness and vanilla flavors emerge in the aftertaste.  Taste definitely lingers with a sweet roasted coffee flavor.

Mouthfeel: Thick with a slight stickiness which lasts well through the aftertaste.  Smooth and rich with a very low alcohol burn.

Overall: Best beer I’ve ever had.  Complesity and richness of flavors keep me discovering new things at every sip.  I go back for plenty of smells and could drink this beer forever.

Grade: A+
